Hird Island is an unspoiled jewel on Georgia's Gold Coast, with a diverse array of wildlife  and people. Accessible by boat only, secluded, it is only 5 minutes from marinas and public boat  landings. Hird Island is conveniently located 45 minutes south of Savannah Airport and one hour north  of Jacksonville Airport. Atlanta, Georgia is only slightly more than 4 hours away by car. St. Simons Island and Brunswick, Georgia are 20 minutes to the south by car and 40 minutes by boat.  Brunswick, Georgia jet service several times a day to Atlanta by Delta Airlines from Glenco Airport.

Darien, Georgia is featured in Yachting Magazine's, December 2000 issue, as one of their ten favorite cruising destinations in the United States.

One of few remaining barrier islands off the South Eastern Coast of the United States, this natural setting is the home of deer, mink, otter, bald eagles and osprey. Experience the excellent fishing,  crabbing, shrimping, and boating that this spectacular coastal island offers. Watch dolphins and  their baby calves at play and feeding in the creeks. Kayak in pristine creeks and stroll through magnificent  oak and cedar forests. Enjoy the blessings of the shrimp fleet, and  explore Sapelo Island where Charles Lindburgh once landed. Presidents escape there to relax in seclusion.

Sapelo has almost 11 miles of  beaches with dunes, sea turtles, whale bones, shark teeth and PEACE AND QUIET! Descendants  of former slaves live in "Hog Hammock". Watch these warm and gracious people weave and share their history and culture during Sapelo Festival in September.

Please sit back, relax and enjoy our SLIDESHOW of Hird Island!
